Luxury Pet Boarding

It is always a pet lover’s pleasure to spend a lot of time with his or her pets but there are those times when we just can’t do that. A seminar in another city or a business trip prompts pet owners to leave their pets in pet boarding houses. There are regular boarding places for pets where they are given basic items and basic care while you are away but if you want the best for your pet, luxury pet boarding is a good idea.
Pets need love and usually require a lot of body contact with human beings for them not to be too stressed out. With luxury boarding places for pets, all of the things that your pet needs are attended too. There are a number of luxury boarding spaces for pets and these places usually include swimming pools tailored fit for pets, air conditioned rooms complete with television sets and a great view. These places usually include grooming services, 20-minute walks, medication administration, and movie nights for pets complete with snacks. There are also some places that offer access to dog webcams where you can see your pet even if you are far away from each other. Boarding rates range from $20 to $50 a day.

Fun Time With Mirrors

Wasn't that cute? This is a fun trick to pull out for an animal who has never seen itself before. A mirror can keep an animal occupied for at least a few minutes at a time. Just be sure to stand by in case the animal gets too stressed out. Aside from some loud barking from the dogs, the only drawback is a few smudges and nose-prints on the glass. Occasionally, cats will also be interested, but then again, it can be difficult to get a cat's attention for anything.
I have been unable to get any reaction from my fish with this trick.

The Importance of Brushing Your Dog’s Teeth

Although dogs do not get cavities, they do get a course of other tooth and mouth problems and these can lead to infections that might cause major ailments or even death. These are the main reasons why veterinarians encourage dog owners to brush their dog’s teeth as frequent as possible.

Ultimately, brushing your dog’s teeth once or twice a week is already an achievement on its own because no dog opens his or her mouth willingly ever. The good news is, doggie toothpaste is usually flavored with chicken, malt or other things that dogs just love so once they get a hang of the “brushing”, they will soon love their tooth brushing/eating sessions.

Brushing your dog’s teeth does not only combat periodontal disease but also prevents a number of other health problems that root from diseases in the gums.

Brushing your dog’s teeth keeps your dogs healthier and in turn will also make their lives longer. If you would like to save money on your pet’s maintenance, brushing his or her teeth is essential because the healthier your pet is, the less money you will have to spend at the vet’s.

To make brushing your dog’s teeth easier, train your dog to be comfortable with you having to hold his or her mouth and the insides of it. With your dog being comfortable with you doing this, it will be a lot easier for you to administer doggie toothpaste inside his or her mouth.

Everybody Loves Cookies!

Thanks to the vast internet we can search for homemade dog treats VERY easily. A simple search will uncover a wealth of recipes. I found cookies galore and even some cake recipes. Yay! Now Spot can have a real birthday party!

You have to be careful though, not all ingredients are safe for dogs. Common ingredients like chocolate and onions should never be used in your canine recipes. They can both be extremely dangerous to dogs. Macadamia nuts and walnuts can also be harmful, they contain unknown toxins that can cause muscle tremors, weakness and even paralysis! Not all varieties of nuts are harmful, but many contain high quantities of salt and fat so use with caution. Other foods that you should be leery of are cheese, milk, liver, potatoes, raisins and grapes.

I can across this great site, Dog Treat Kitchen, filled with recipes as well as cautions. You should go check it out and send us a photo of you smoochy poochy with the treats you create. :-)
